Champagne trip mixes pleasure and business

There was plenty of fun and fizz on offer in June when dozens of cars from Jardine’s finest marques made the 250-mile journey from the UK to the champagne region of France.

A regular event for Sevenoaks Aston Martin customers, it was the first time that Jardine Motors had organised a trip for the high luxury sector – and on such a scale.

Lucia Jenkins, Marketing Manager for Sevenoaks Aston Martin, who organised the event said: “Our customers love their cars, but in many cases they’re not driven very much”. "These trips give our customers an excuse to get their cars out of the garage and spend a few days enjoying them on superb roads with like minded people that share a common interest.”

This year’s trip saw 27 supercars taking part, including a dozen Aston Martins and five Bentleys as well as Ferraris, McLarens, Maseratis and Lamborghinis. The three day, 300-mile round trip started with everyone meeting at a golf club for breakfast and introductions before heading to the Eurotunnel.

Once in France, the convoy stopped for lunch in St Quentin, much to the delight of local residents, before deciding whether to take the direct or scenic route to the final destination; the five-star Royal Champagne Hotel in Champillon.

As part of the trip, the party visited the fabulous Champagne Collet chateau south of Reims, where they enjoyed a tour of the cellars, museum and a tasting session. Lucia was joined by Jardine Motors Group Chief Executive Mark Herbert, Richard Gordon, Brand Director, Simon Lane, Sales Manager from Aston Martin Cambridge and Alastair Sommerville, Dealer Principal, McLaren Lucia added.
