Replacement tyres explained

Aston Martin models are renowned for their innovative engines and transmissions, but the tyres underpin each model’s performance and are the only points of contact with the road. Selecting the most suitable tyres for your vehicle and your driving style is of the utmost importance.

From November 2012, a clear and simple labelling system has been introduced for all new tyres. The labels show the performance of each tyre in three areas: fuel efficiency, wet braking and exterior noise emissions. Each rating system closely resembles those found on household appliances, providing an at-a-glance overview when you’re selecting new tyres.

Efficiency

Above and beyond your methods of driving and engine efficiency, the fuel economy and carbon emissions of your car are both impacted by your choice of tyres. Selecting the most suitable tyres for your Aston Martin can potentially reduce your fuel consumption by up to 7.5 percent. The efficiency of each tyre is clearly represented with the new A-to-G rating system.

Wet braking performance

To compensate for wetter road surfaces, you will need to monitor and adjust your braking accordingly. Damp conditions have a negative impact on the performance of brakes and tyres, increasing both stopping times and distances. Using a complete set of A-grade tyres for wet braking can reduce your braking distance by 18 metres from 50mph.

Exterior noise emissions

For simplicity and ease of understanding, the new labelling lists the noise levels for each tyre in decibels, providing you with the freedom to select tyres that will offer a quieter driving experience, with no impact on the performance of your model.
