Audi are looking forward to the release of the SQ7 in 2016, which will feature an innovative new electrical structural design. This electrical architecture will be rolled out into the new A6 and A8, both of which are set to be released in 2017.
The SQ7 will showcase some impressive features, including a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre diesel V8 engine with around 414bhp, which will be directed to the wheels courtesy of an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is expected to beat speeds set by the Q7, going from 0-62mph in under 5.5 seconds and with a top speed of over 155mph.
Electrical turbochargers require the 48-volt electrical architecture (debuting in the SQ7) to enable them to work. Electrical turbochargers are incredibly beneficial for drivers and are much simpler to use than twin or triple turbo engines – completely eradicating lag and improving low-speed performance. Tweaks to suspension, exhaust systems and inside dials round off the SQ7’s exciting new features.
