Featuring more than just a facelift, the completely redesigned all-new A4 Avant from Audi is now in its fifth generation. Unveiled simultaneously with the saloon for the first time earlier this year, the Avant will be available in January 2016 and will be worth the wait.
This refined executive estate boasts a whole host of technical innovations that make it more driver-focused than ever, and its masculine design and high quality interior complete the package. Particular attention has been paid to the cabin architecture, with a completely redesigned centre console and dashboard.
Frank Rimili, Audi Exterior Designer, said ‘Today’s car is a little soft. The new version is sharp and more masculine and that’s what we wanted. You can see it in the wider, more aggressive grille’. This more aerodynamic shape offers impressively low drag, making for quiet cruising.
The all-new A4 Avant boasts class-leading load capacity with 505 litres, or 1,510 litres with the rear seats collapsed. Wider and longer than its predecessor, find increased interior space for added comfort, with more head and knee room.
Redesigned seats, steering wheel and MMI display enhance the new Design Selection cabin, offering new interior trim colours and decorative sash and sill detailing. The all-new A4 Avant will also be available with the innovative 12.3-inch virtual cockpit, which replaces the conventional analogue dials, so you can flick between roles at the touch of a button.
Traffic-jam assist will see you through slow-moving traffic up to 40mph, and when as low as 8mph, the car can maintain discipline on its own with hands-free driving. Advanced adaptive cruise control uses the navigation to increase or decrease the car’s speed without requiring direct driver input. Automatic emergency braking is an added safety feature, highlighting the all-new A4 Avant’s semi-autonomous abilities.
Built on the front-wheel drive MLB Evo platform and with lighter, stiffer bodywork, the A4 Avant has reduced weight in its fifth generation. Five-point multi-link rear suspension, optional drive dampers, new electric power steering and torque vectoring will all enhance the driving experience in this new Audi creation.
Under the bonnet, seven engine choices are available, with four diesel and three petrol options that range from 148bhp to 272bhp. Six, seven and eight-speed transmissions are available, depending on the selected specification.
Offering improvements in space, performance and technology, the all-new A4 Avant is available in SE, Sport and S-Line trim levels, but at all levels, benefit from the following as standard: 17-inch alloys, Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, three-zone climate control, Audi drive select and the 7-inch MMI interface with smartphone integration.
