Bentley announces first ever diesel car – the Bentayga Diesel

Bentley Motors has announced the release of the first diesel car in the company’s history – the Bentayga Diesel. The new model will combine the brand’s signature luxury style with new clean-driving diesel technology.

The Bentayga Diesel will be powered by an all-new diesel engine, developed by Bentley’s engineers in the UK. The triple-charged 4.0-litre V8 diesel engine is impressively powerful, creating 429 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. The car’s top speed is a huge 168 mph and it accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

The Bentayga Diesel also benefits from leading clean technology, including a stop-start system and Selective Catalytic Reduction. This gives it the lowest CO2 emissions of any Bentley at just 210 g/km.

And the diesel engine has a huge range of 621 miles, meaning one tank of fuel can take you from London to Verbier or Bordeaux.

Bentley refinement in a diesel

The new Bentayga Diesel will retain the comfort and luxurious drive for which the Bentayga range is renowned.

Smooth driving at any speed is created by two turbochargers and a third electric supercharger, which deliver seamless power. The lithium-ion battery system offers greater power reserves for constant delivery, and the bespoke exhaust system has been acoustically engineered to keep everything as quiet as possible.

The Bentayga Diesel can also be specified with Bentley Dynamic Ride – an active roll control technology system that counteracts rolling forces when cornering. It keeps maximum tyre contact with the road, creating cabin stability and exceptional handling.

And electric power-assisted steering makes for light driving while the electronic stability and traction control keep the ride smooth.

Design and style

The Bentayga Diesel retains the luxury design from the W12-engine petrol-powered model while adding a number of unique styling additions.

These include a new Bentley ‘twin-quad’ exhaust tailpipe design and a black matrix grille with a chrome surround and central bar at the front.

Inside a new Liquid Amber veneer option creates an elegant surface throughout the cabin. And rear seat passengers can enjoy the new entertainment tablet – a removable 10.2 inch Android device with 4G and WiFi. Plus the Bentayga has three sound systems to choose from.

And, as with all Bentley cars, the Bentayga Diesel can be customised by the skilled craftspeople at Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke department.

Options include 21 inch wheels in a silver or grey painted finish, an integrated hamper set and clock mechanism in solid gold with diamond indexes.

The Bentayga Diesel is expected for delivery in 2017. Speak to Bentley Essex or Bentley Kent for more information.
