Replacement tyres explained

Although your car might have a powerful engine under its bonnet, its only point of contact with the road is through its tyres. With this in mind, it’s crucial to make sure your choice of tyres is not only the most suitable for your Bentley, but is matched to the road and weather conditions.

Since November 1, 2012, all new tyres have been labelled to display their performance in the three key areas of fuel efficiency, exterior noise emissions, and wet braking. These new labels are designed to resemble the efficiency ratings you see on household appliances, allowing you to assess the performance of your chosen tyres quickly and easily.

Efficiency

Your choice of tyres has a significant impact on the economy and CO2 emissions of your vehicle. A more economical set of tyres can reduce fuel consumption by up to 7.5 percent and reduce your carbon footprint. The new A-to-G grading system quickly shows you the efficiency of any tyre you select.

Wet braking performance

All drivers need to adjust their braking distances in wet weather, as it adversely affects the performance of both tyres and brakes. By fitting your Bentley with a new set of tyres graded A on the new scale, you could stop up to 18 metres sooner when travelling at 50mph.

Exterior noise emissions

The new labelling also lists the noise levels from each tyre using a simple decibel scale, which is an important consideration as noise pollution can be distracting. Fitting the correct type of tyre can be one of the most effective ways to reduce noise.
