PERFORMANCE

BMW say the new M5 is a master of thrills with track inspired performance technology. The BMW M5 Competition is the most powerful motor that BMW M has ever developed for a series production vehicle. The 4.4-litre engine delivers 625bhp, 750 Nm of torque, and goes from 0 to 62mh in a mere 3.3 seconds. It will hit 124mph in just 10.8 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph. There’s an eight-speed automatic gearbox with most of the power being sent exclusively to the rear wheels depending on the chosen drive mode. Plus, all four wheels come with increased camber and 20-inch sporty alloy wheels. Performance enhancements over the standard BMW 5 Series include M Servotronic steering for precision handling, uprated dampers, stiffer bespoke engine mounts, larger yet lighter M Compound disc brakes, now finished in a red calliper, and an M Sport valved exhaust system for those M Soundtrack notes which you’ll hear to your delight pumped through speakers into the cabin. All of the enhancements create a more connected feeling to the road ahead. You can also opt for a range of M Performance extras such as coilover suspension and carbon fibre aero components to boot.
