Jaguar Land Rover’s new Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) unit has big ambitions to develop the high-performance models in the Jaguar and Land Rover ranges. This special team aims to replicate the success of the Mercedes high performance division, AMG.
Jaguar Land Rover SVO will focus on exclusive vehicles, set apart from the rest of the range in both performance and design, with exquisite exterior styling and interior luxury. As the brand progresses, the ideas developed by SVO will be used throughout the Jaguar range.
Paul Newsome is the director of SVO, and he said: “We want to build the SVO brand at the top of JLR. We’ve seen great success with the Range Rover Sport SVR, and you’ll see our next model early next year”.
Its aim is to eventually establish three separate ranges of SVO Jaguar and Land Rover models, featuring sports cars, all-terrain vehicles and luxury cars. Special Vehicle Race (SVR) models will be the high-performance road and track vehicles, and a car will need to be the most impressive in its range to qualify for the SVR badge. The off-road models will have an SVX badge, and be the most capable all-terrain vehicles in their respective ranges.
