Audi’s relentless drive to produce the best vehicles in every class saw them win Best Coupé with the Audi TT, Best Convertible, also with the TT, and Best Supermini with the new Audi A1, recognised as being a true premium car despite its diminutive size and price. Audi were also recognised as runners-up in a number of other classes.

BMW
BMW took two awards outright – the BMW X3 4x4 was ranked first in the 4x4 and SUV category, thanks to its size, practicality and efficiency. As usual, BMW swept the Executive class, with the BMW 3-series claiming first place and the ever-popular 5-series ranking as a close runner-up.

Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz took the Luxury Car crown with their S-Class – a car that has remained at the forefront of the luxury and technology frontier since its official inception in 1972. It remains ‘the last word in elegance and comfort.’

SEAT
The SEAT Alhambra took first in the MPV category thanks to its excellent space utilisation, visibility and driving character. Best of all, it has a 5-star safety rating, putting parent’s fears for their children at rest.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen received more awards than any other manufacturer. The evergreen Volkswagen Golf took Best Small Family Car, while the new Volkswagen Up! won an astonishing 3 awards! It was rated best City Car, first for Car Safety, and took the overall win – What Car? declared the Up! Car of the Year, thanks to its refinement, quality and space. It was recognised as truly setting the standard for its class, and even for more expensive and larger cars. Like Audi, a number of Volkswagens were close runners-up in other classes.
