Lamborghini hasn’t held back with its new Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, which has been engineered for the upcoming Super Trofeo racing series. Compared to its road-legal sibling the Trofeo is lighter, more powerful and modelled only for the track, as one look at its unique exterior will confirm.
The vehicle is available exclusively for participants in the Super Trofeo racing series. Please contact Lancaster Lamborghini in Sevenoaks for more information.
With its aggressive expression, low stance and aerodynamic shape, the standard Huracán has plenty of admirers. The LP 620-2 Super Trofeo builds on this appeal with a huge rear wing that has ten different positions to push the vehicle down onto the track. New side skirts and a distinctive rear diffuser also aid downforce, and the vehicle now sits even lower on Pirelli tyres.
The hybrid carbon/aluminium frame crucially saves weight, and has been modified to hold a new radiator at the front as well as a racing gearbox at the rear. Meanwhile two air vents cut into the hood help the engine perform at the optimum level all the way to the chequered flag.
Safety for track cars differs slightly when compared to road models, and Lamborghini has modified the LP 620-2 Super Trofeo’s features specifically for the circuit. It includes adjustable anti-roll bars to protect occupants in the event of a dramatic incident plus Bosch Motorsport ABS with 12 traction settings.
The LP 620-2 Super Trofeo shares the same direct-injection V10 engine as the standard Huracán but with added power, bringing the total output up to 456kW. This is sent to the rear wheels rather than both axels as in the road-ready Huracán. The result is an extra weight saving and a reported 0-60mph sprint time of around 3.2 seconds. Delivering power is an XTrac sequential transmission which shifts up and down through the gears instantly with the help of a three-disc clutch.
