In this year’s Which? Car Survey, Lexus was the only manufacturer to be awarded with a five-star rating, branding it the most reliable of all.

Just under 50,000 people took part in the survey, submitting information about their real-world ownership experiences, including breakdowns, repair costs, common faults and the length of time vehicles have had to be taken off the road to correct any issues.

In the Which? guide to the best new and used buys in different market categories, Lexus scored well across them all: the Lexus NX crossover was hailed as the new car market’s best compact SUV, with five stars for reliability; the second- and third-generation RX models fared well in the used vehicle ratings, named as the two best used large SUVs.

In the large and luxury car categories, the IS and GS saloons both achieved top-four positions, and the CT 200h hatchback was awarded with a ‘best buy’ recommendation in the new medium-sized models category.

Lexus Director, Ewan Shepherd, said: ‘Which? is respected worldwide for the accuracy and thoroughness of its product testing and investigations, which makes this result especially rewarding for us. Lexus’ reputation is built on not just developing excellent vehicles, but also on providing our customers with an exceptional ownership experience, so it is hugely encouraging to receive such positive feedback and support for what we are delivering with our model range and the service we are providing in our showrooms and workshops.’

The 2016 Auto Express Driver Power survey was also a big success for Lexus, heralding lasting quality and satisfaction in both new and old models – the brand claimed first and second positions, plus three additional models also featured in the top 10. As the icing on the cake, the IS executive sports saloon was named as Autocar’s Used Car of the Year.
