Replacement tyres explained

Determining driving performance and style, tyres are among the most important parts of any vehicle. Choosing the most appropriate tyres for your Lexus is therefore very important.

A labelling system has been rolled out to all new tyres, effective since November 2012. These labels provide an at-a-glance look at the performance of each type in three key areas, including fuel efficiency, wet braking and exterior noise emissions.

Efficiency

Your choice of tyre has a marked effect on fuel economy and CO2 emissions from your car. Lexus drivers can reduce fuel consumption by as much as 7.5 percent with suitable tyres fitted.

Wet braking performance

Did you know that by fitting a complete set of A-grade wet braking tyres, you can reduce your braking distance in wet conditions by 18 metres in a car travelling at 50mph? The new labelling system clearly displays the kind of tyres which are best for driving in wet conditions.

Exterior noise emissions

The new labelling system also denotes the level of noise, in decibels, which each tyre emits. Keeping noise to a minimum is essential for safety and comfort, so it’s important to consider which kind of tyres will provide a quieter driving experience without compromising on power or performance.
