DESIGN

Although immediately recognisable as part of the C-Class family, the Coupé has more than enough character of its own to set it apart from the saloon and estate. The lengthy bonnet and the vigorous sweep of the roofline is a clear indication of the car’s performance capabilities, complemented by the rising character lines of the side panels. The gaping air intakes and characteristic diamond-patterned grille differentiate the coupé further from its siblings, whilst adding the necessary extra touch of aggression. Despite the slender looks of the C-Class Coupé, it gives its occupants a surprising amount of space – along with all the comfort, refinement and advanced technology that one would expect from a Mercedes. Thanks to the substantial wheelbase of 2840mm, rear passengers are also able to stretch their legs out and relax. Heated seats made from Artico leather provide outstanding lateral support when cornering, as well as four-way lumbar support to keep you and your passengers comfortable during the longest journeys.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon Technology

TECHNOLOGY

C-Class Coupé buyers are offered a choice of 2.0 litre petrol or 2.1 litre diesel engines, both available with two different power outputs. The petrol unit supplies 184hp or 245hp; together with the car’s modest weight of a little over 1.5 tons, these engines generate excellent performance levels. When fitted with the 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic transmission, the more powerful 245hp version can thrust the Coupé from 0-62mph in just 7.3 seconds. This vast amount of power, however, is surpassed by the more powerful diesel, which boasts 500Nm torque and boasts an even better 0-62mph acceleration figure of 6.7 seconds.

Drivers with an eye to fuel economy and environmental impact, however, may be interested in the less powerful diesel, which delivers excellent performance as well as achieving combined fuel consumption of 68.9mpg and CO2 output as low as 106g/km.The range of advanced engines is complemented by an array of practical driver-convenience technology. Two-zone automatic climate control, Garmin Map Pilot satellite navigation and the Mercedes Connect Me system (which performs such functions as alerting you if a service is coming up or notifying roadside assistance services if you are involved in an accident) are standard to all models. Other features, such as the DAB digital radio or the Comand Online onboard computer, can be accessed through the high-resolution 7” colour display in the centre of the dashboard.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon Safety

SAFETY

A variety of sophisticated stability-enhancing systems are in place to ensure that you are always in control of your C-Class Coupé.In addition to ABS and an effective but never intrusive Electronic Stability Programme, the Collision Prevention Assist function ensures that you do not stray too close to the vehicle in front – even applying the brakes automatically if a collision appears to be imminent. The Attention Assist system also sounds an audible warning if it detects signs of fatigue on the motorway. If an accident does occur, occupants are protected by the vehicle’s strong frame, along with dual-stage driver, passenger, side, pelvis, driver’s knee and window airbags.

FEATURES

C-Class Coupé buyers are offered a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine, with a range of power outputs and nine-speed automatic transmission. The entry-level powertrain is the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which uses mild-hybrid technology, and produces 184hp. The C 200 has a limited top speed of 149mph and does the 0-62mph sprint in 7.9 seconds. For more power, the C 300 produces 255hp and does 0-62mph in as little as 6 seconds. There’s only one diesel engine on offer for the C-Class Coupé, which is the C220d. The 2.0-litre engine produces 194hp with Mercedes claiming a fuel consumption of 61.4mpg. Performance-focused AMG models are also available for even more power.
