Meet the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé ahead of its official launch at the Paris Motor Show 2016. The new model combines a sporty and elegant design with high performance driving and SUV-style all-wheel-drive off-road capabilities.

We’ve got the latest details on the new coupé, from the engine to the design and styling.

Engine and transmission

The GLC 43 Coupé is designed as an SUV with sportscar-like performance. It can reach 100km/h in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h.

This is down to the 3.0 litre V6 engine with direct injection and biturbocharging that is used in many AMG vehicles. It has an output of 270 kW (367 hp) with a maximum torque of 520 Nm.

The powerful engine is combined with nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which has been specially configured for a dynamic driving experience. There are five transmission modes to optimise for agility, efficiency or comfort. The car can also be switched into manual mode using shift paddles on the steering wheel.

Sports suspension

The Mercedes GLC 43 Coupé also has sports suspension for added agility and better traction at high speeds. The multi-chamber air suspension and improved spring elements create a highly dynamic ride with exceptional comfort.

The suspension can be set in three modes to suit the transmission and driving conditions: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. The suspension can also adjust the vehicle’s height and ground clearance, creating impressive off-road capabilities. Plus the coupé has a braked towing capacity of up to 2460 kg.

Exterior design

At the front the GLC 43 Coupé has a sporty and distinctive design with a diamond radiator grille with high-gloss chrome highlights. The coupé silhouette comes from the high beltline and wide shoulders. The car also has high-gloss black painted 19 inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels.

At the rear the characteristic chrome highlights and tailpipe trim create a sporty appeal. The narrow, divided tail lights create a sharper spoiler lip.

Interior design

The interior design complements the dynamic and sporty exterior. The colours are sporty black with red contrasting features and trim highlights in aluminium.

The front sports seats and multifunction sports steering wheel are finished in man-made leather and red contrasting topstitching.

The dashboard has large round dials and a central multi-function display including a 5.5 inch screen. Plus the AMG 43 Coupé comes with a wide range of driver assistance systems.

And the boot has an impressive 491 to 1400 litres load space. This can be configured in a variety of ways with the split-folding rear seats.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé will received a worldwide debut at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016, with cars arriving at dealerships from December 2016. Speak to your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership for more information.
