New JCW convertible at the New York Motor Show

The New York Motor Show this year proved an exciting one for MINI, as they unveiled their new MINI JCW Convertible to much excitement from the crowd.

The engine remains unchanged from the MINI JCW Hatchback, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol that packs a lot of punch; the 228bhp is up 20bhp from the previous generation and races ahead of the MINI Cooper S Convertible with an extra 39bhp. The sprint from 0-62mph takes just a hair-raising 6.6 seconds, promising to be the most exciting JCW Convertible yet.

New styling promises a sportier look and feel, with larger cooling vents near the grille and updated sills, LED headlights and taillights and JCW badging for a touch of exclusivity. Optional Rebel Green paint has also been added, only available on John Cooper Works models, while the rest of the features are carried over from the JCW Hatchback, including the dynamic red styling on the grille and lightweight alloy wheels.

MINI’s true playful nature comes through in the details of the car, with options like a Union Jack design on the high quality soft-top roof, which can be lowered in only 18 seconds and at speeds of up to 19mph. Sports seats are of course included as standard, and you can even upgrade from 17-inch wheels to impressive 18-inch versions.
