Local residents are being encouraged to get on their bikes in a bid to help local motor retailer Porsche Centre Cambridge, part of Jardine Motors Group, raise money for the charity, Whizz-Kidz, at a special event taking place on 12 August at Snetterton Racing Circuit.
Starting at 5:30 pm, avid cyclists can participate in a unique time trial around the circuit, then at 6:30 pm the circuit is opened up to families and enthusiasts to enjoy a leisurely, summer’s evening bike ride around this iconic venue. In return for this one-off experience, PorscheCentre Cambridge is encouraging participants to make a donation to their chosen charity, Whizz-Kidz.
Partakers of the event will get the chance to ride where champions have raced. Snetterton Circuit, located of the A11 and near Thetford, was opened in 1953 and hosts races from series including the British Touring Car Championship, British Formula Three Championship and British Superbike Championship. Between 1980 and 1994, the track hosted the UK’s first 24 hour race.
Jardine Motors Group and Whizz-Kidz have been in partnership since 2014 to support the charity’s young people’s services – including clubs, camps and wheelchair skills training – which enable the young people taking part to become confident and independent young adults. In just over two years the partnership has made an enormous impact on the lives of disabled children and young people living across the UK. Stuart Lee Dealer Principal at Porsche Cambridge comments:
“It will be a great spectacle to see the track full of cyclists using pedal power instead of high performance cars using horse power – just for one evening! This special event will be a chance for families and enthusiasts to gain a unique experience which wouldn’t normally be accessible to the public as well as help us raise funds for our worthy charity, Whizz-Kidz.”
We are kindly requesting that attending guests are prepared to donate a minimum of £10 to participate in the Leisure Ride and a minimum of £15 to participate in the Time Trial to Whizz-Kidz and all riders will need to ensure that they wear safety helmets on the day.
You are welcome to turn up on the evening for the Leisure Ride. However, if you would like to pre-register please contact us on our General Enquiry form via the button below. Or call Patsy Marshall on 01223 872872.
