14 newly customised Toyota cars were showcased at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA). The star of the show was the Ultimate Utility Vehicle (UUV). The UUV combines all the most extreme elements of Toyota’s off-road vehicles, culminating in one heck of a car!
Take the strong body, chassis and comforts of marque's Sienna MPV or minivan, add the underpinnings of the robust Tacoma pick-up truck, and rest them on massive 12-inch thick, 22-inch diameter Monster Energy off-road wheels, complete with upgraded steering system to handle such heavy tyres. Then, just add a racing-developed supercharger giving you incredible on-demand torque and acceleration and you’ve got yourself the UUV.
Built specifically for the most extreme off-road conditions, you needn’t worry about getting lost in the dark; all-around LED off-roading lights shine bright in even the darkest of places, held into place with braces designed to protect them from rough terrain conditions.
Stopping off at SEMA on its way across North America, the UUV it will be tested in the heat and dust of Death Valley, the gradient of Pikes Peak, the ice of Alaska and the congestion of downtown Manhattan.
Ed Laukes, Vice President of Marketing, Performance and Guest Experience for Toyota Motor Sales USA said, "At Toyota our rally call is ‘Let's go places, and when we say that, we mean let's have fun getting there."
