Replacement tyres explained

On November 1, 2012, a new and clearer labelling system was introduced for all new tyres. The simpler design displays each tyre’s performance in three key areas: fuel efficiency, wet braking and exterior noise emissions. As the labels closely resemble those used to classify household appliances, each rating can be read and understood quickly.

Efficiency

The quality and performance of the tyres fitted to your Volkswagen have a clear and noticeable effect on efficiency. The new A-to-G scale for tyre ratings is shown on each label – a full set of high-efficiency tyres could reduce your fuel consumption by up to 7.5 percent.

Wet braking performance

In damp weather conditions, both the braking and stopping distances for any vehicle are increased. Taking this difference into account is vital for your safety, as well as that of your passengers and other road users. A set of A-grade tyres for wet braking could reduce your Volkswagen’s stopping distance from 50mph by up to 18 metres.

Exterior noise emissions

Each tyre’s noise level is displayed clearly on the label in decibels. High amounts of exterior noise can be detrimental to your comfort on the road. The range of tyres that we retain in stock gives you the freedom to select quieter tyres for your commercial vehicle.
