Sky Atlantic features Volvo short film series

For the past two years now, Volvo has sponsored Sky Atlantic. But recently, the Swedish marque has taken its relationship with the channel to the next level, surpassing the usual television advertisements by launching a series of short films.

Human Made Stories premiered on Sky Atlantic last month, marking the Volvo brand’s new 90 series range of cars, including the S90, V90, XC90 and XC90 Plug-in Hybrid. The focus of the series is on topics – or rather people – reflecting Volvo’s brand values, or ‘people who do things differently, challenge conventions and create their own path’. The first three episodes follow these hand-picked heroes:

  • Chapter 1 - Oliver: an innovative engineer who, along with his team from Cambridge, works with amputees to develop smart prostheses. By making human and machine work together, Oliver is transforming lives.
  • Chapter 2 – Maria and Josefin: in an effort to aid nature, these two Swedish entrepreneurs salvage boat wrecks from Stockholm’s archipelago.
  • Chapter 3 - Erik: an enthusiastic and surreal award-winning photographer who brings an engineering approach to art. Capturing ideas instead of moments, he challenges conventions to achieve the impossible and is obsessed with his craft.

Keep an eye out over the coming year, as additional episodes in the Human Made Stories series will be released.

‘In Human Made Stories, we wanted to profile people who share that [Volvo] ethos. Oliver, Maria, Josefin and Erik are all determined in their mission to push boundaries and make the world a better place. They are each relentless in their pursuit of craft and innovation to drive the world forward – a trait shared by Volvo’, said Georgina Williams, head of marketing at Volvo Car UK.
