The XC60 has emerged as the best-selling mid-size SUV in Europe in 2015. In a year that centred on the Volvo XC90, many would have overlooked the XC60 as a best-seller, but the five-seat SUV has proven itself to be a popular choice in showrooms Europe-wide, with the Swedish brand selling 159,617 XC60s in 2015 alone.
Since its launch in 2008, sales of the Volvo XC60 have increased year on year, which is a pattern almost unheard of in the automotive industry. This has helped it to become the best-selling Volvo out of all models available since 2009.
But Europe isn’t the only arena in which the XC60 is excelling, with China and the United States the top two leading markets for XC60 sales, followed by its home country of Sweden. In Europe though, sales success can be found in Germany, France and the UK, helping the versatile, luxurious, mid-size SUV reach the 750,000 total sales mark in 2015.
The European market is an important one for Volvo, as in addition to the XC60’s success, European sales account for more than 50% of Volvo’s global sales.
Last year was the first time that the XC60 has been the leader of sales in the mid-size SUV segment, plus it’s the same year that SUVs excelled and arose as the most popular car segment of all in Europe.
