Introduction

Endowed with subtle and delicate looks, yet also boasting astonishing speed and dynamism, Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage S Roadster offers a thrilling experience for any sportscar enthusiast.

Weighing just 14kg more than its coupé counterpart, the roadster loses next to nothing as a driver’s car; with the roof up, it also boasts refinement to match its sibling.

Safety

Dual-stage front and side airbags provide exceptional protection for the driver and front passenger, whilst quick-deploying anti-roll bars are designed to prevent injury if a catastrophic accident results in the vehicle being overturned. Such a traumatic experience, however, is made much less likely by the inclusion of a multitude of active safety features, such as ABS, Dynamic Stability Control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Positive Torque Control, and Hill Start Assist.Together with the extremely effective ventilated carbon-ceramic disc brakes, these measures render the V12 Vantage S Roadster stable and poised in any circumstances.

Design

The sleek and poised appearance of the V12 Vantage S Roadster, accentuated by such delightful touches as the carbon fibre air intakes, side strakes and mirror caps, along with door handles that are flush with the bodywork.

More prosaically, the extruded-aluminium structure is extremely light and strong, meaning that it avoids the problems with additional weight and structural weakness that can hamper less well-designed convertible cars.

The rear deck of the car is refined and of a modest size, despite containing a soft-top roof mechanism that can be electronically raised or lowered in 14 seconds at speeds under 30mph.

Inside, the car's immensely customisable cabin offers craftsmanship of the highest quality, with leather bucket seats and hand-stitched upholstery complementing clear, simple instruments.

Technology

The V12 Vantage S Roadster is powered by the manufacturer's AM28 V12 engine. Possessed of a mighty 565bhp, the 6.0 litre unit also delivers peak torque of 620Nm – resulting in a 0-62mph acceleration figure of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph.

The extraordinary power of this engine is yoked to a seven-speed, automated-manual Sportshift III transmission, which supplies a constant surge of power during aggressive acceleration.

The vehicle's interior boasts a variety of technology as standard, from ambient “Organic Electroluminscent" displays to rear-parking assistance sensors. Bluetooth® connectivity keeps you in touch with the outside world, while a 160W Aston Martin audio system allows you to listen to your favourite music.

As an optional extra, this can be replaced by a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 1000W Audio System, which heightens the driving experience still further.
