It’s not often in life that we get to enjoy the best of both worlds. But why should we settle for anything less? Especially when we don’t have to.
The award-winning Audi A3 e-tron Sportback combines both the inspired performance and sophisticated looks of an Audi with the efficiency of electric motoring. The result is a plug-in hybrid car that offers economic everyday driving with a world of style and comfort.
The Audi A3 e-tron Sportback doesn’t just look after the planet. It’s also been designed to look after something equally as important: you.
With this in mind, the same attention to safety and detail has been spent on the e-tron Sportback as Audi’s non-hybrid cars. Which means everything is included, from active systems to help you to avoid accidents like Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), to the Active Bonnet technology that helps create space between the front of the car and the engine should you collide with a pedestrian.
At first glance, you can be forgiven for mistaking this Audi e-tron Sportback model for the combustion-powered alternatives, as it retains many of their stylish features.
But on closer inspection, you’ll come to realise that it comfortably stands alone with its own approach to design. Although its compact shape and short overhangs remain the same, the headlights, rear badging, air vents and exhaust reveal subtle tweaks that give it its own identity.
These refined modifications are also complemented by premium details such as chrome-trimmed windows and grille, plus LED lights that continue to reinforce Audi’s position at the top end of the market.
It’s a similar story inside the e-tron Sportback, where there’s no mistaking the distinctive finish. Throughout the cabin you’ll find familiar features and design cues, including the jet engine-style vents that have been carried over from combustion models.
A performance-inspired car that’s economical and has a low impact on the planet requires a fair amount of technology. Or in this instance, Audi hybrid technology.
Audi’s aim was to create a responsible high-performance car, and the A3 Sportback e-tron figures suggest they achieved exactly this. The model combines a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 150PS, giving the e-tron a range of 536 miles with the combined electric and petrol engine, with only 37g/km of CO2 emissions.
