A7 named World Luxury Car

The Audi A7 has been named World Luxury Car for 2019 at a ceremony at the New York International Auto Show.

It's the second consecutive World Luxury Car win for the brand - the A8 was last year's winner. And it marks the tenth time Audi has won a World Car prize in the competition's 15-year history.

This year's winner was chosen from an initial entry list of five prestigious cars from all over the world – a shortlist of three finalists was announced in Geneva in March.

Vehicles were selected and voted on by an international jury panel of 86 prominent automotive journalists from 24 countries.

Head of Group Corporate and Public Relations Paul Buckett commented: "To do well at these awards you first need a good product.

"However, your brand must also have in place an international strategy to ensure that every judge in each country is identified, exposed to the relevant product, and enjoys a positive relationship with your brand.

"If a judge in the US has not driven your entry, he or she can't vote for it. If you want your brand to win, bring it up on your international agenda."
