New Audi A5 and Q2 gain five stars for safety

When you’re hunting for a new car, safety is a key area of consideration – achieving ultimate safety when travelling is high on the list of priorities, and it would seem incomprehensible for most to put family, friends or colleagues in unnecessary danger. That’s why we hope you’ll be delighted to hear that the new Audi A5 and Q2 have been awarded five-star safety ratings by Euro NCAP.

Both vehicles scored top grades for active and passive safety, including pedestrian protection – such statistics cement their place amongst the safest vehicles in their segments. Why would you choose anything less than the best?

With the Audi Q2, benefit from emergency braking assistant as standard – this is a feature that was introduced into the evaluation procedure this year. Emergency braking assistant monitors the vehicle’s path and alerts the driver if a vehicle or pedestrian is close enough to cause concern. If a collision is imminent, automatic emergency braking is initiated.

Both the A5 Coupé and A5 Sportback models achieved five stars, with pre-sense city fitted as standard to avoid accidents. When travelling at 52mph or less, the pre-sense city safety system scans the road with a front camera for other vehicles and pedestrians. The system intelligently calculates if a collision is imminent and alerts the driver – if no action is taken, the A5 automatically initiates full braking power.

The well-equipped Audi A5 features an extensive range of advanced assistance systems, including collision avoidance assist and turn assist. If an obstacle appears ahead of the vehicle, collision avoidance assist helps you to drive around it, and turn assist is able to observe the flow of oncoming traffic as you turn at low speed across the flow of traffic.
