This month, the Audi Q8 concept was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show – and we’re excited to announce that a production model based on this concept is expected to launch in 2018.
The striking concept is a sight to behold, featuring an athletic, powerful silhouette, a distinguishing front grille, wedge-shaped headlights and a flat, compact rear, seamlessly blending interesting angles with alluring curves.
The Q8 concept’s powerful and highly efficient drive system offers a purely electric range of 37 miles, with a total range of up to 621 miles – and this plug-in hybrid boasts 330kW and 700Nm of torque.
Being a Q model, this stunning vehicle is of course an SUV, yet it also boasts the lines of a coupe, adding an elegant alternative to the classic SUV styling. This adds an added dimension to the existing Audi Q range. There’s luxurious space for four passengers and plenty of luggage in the cavernous cabin, which is adorned with only the finest materials.
The concept’s ground-breaking control and display concept uses large touch displays in the cabin for direct, fast and intuitive operation. Add an enhanced Audi virtual cockpit and a contact-analogue head-up display with intelligent augmented reality for the full offering.
Speaking on the new concept car, Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Audi, said: ‘The Q8 concept is an Audi in peak form. It demonstrates the strengths of our brand in both technology and design while providing a glimpse at a future full-size, production SUV. With its next-generation display and control solutions, we are enabling customers to experience connectivity in a whole new way.’
