Audi RS4 Avant

The new Audi RS 4 Avant

Audi’s new RS 4 Avant has been spotted in disguise – and it is expected to be open for ordering in the near future. This dynamic creation is expected to receive a forced-induction V6 with electric turbocharging, a 3.0-litre engine that’s able to offer an estimated 480bhp.

A lower ride height, emphasising the RS 4 Avant’s muscle, plus RS twin oval exhaust pipes and larger front air intakes, all indicate this vehicle’s vigour – and its torque, ability and efficiency are all expected to be vastly enhanced in comparison to its predecessor.

The small battery-powered electric turbocharger offers low rev range instant power boosts, as it’s not driven by exhaust gases, then the traditional turbo offers top end surges in performance. A generator that recovers energy lost under braking then charges the battery, so the system is both efficient and practical.

This system will be saved for range-topping models, which is why the Audi S4 will use a single traditional turbocharger instead, able to produce 354bhp and 500Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 – 62mph in just 4.7 seconds.

The engine in the new Audi RS 4 Avant may also be used in the R8, offering the marque the opportunity to sell a smaller capacity variant of the V10 supercar, which will be sold in places such as China, where cars are taxed based on cubic capacity rather than emissions.

If you can’t wait for the RS 4 Avant to arrive, why not explore the current Audi A4 range? Or if you’re looking for added performance, the current RS range will have a car that ticks your boxes. Whichever Audi gets your heart racing, you can find it right here at Jardine Motors Audi.
