Audi has announced that next year, we will see the arrival of the next-generation A5 Coupe and A5 Sportback, as well as the A4 allroad.
2016 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the Bavarian brand, with the Coupe expected to be showcased at March’s Geneva Motor Show and the Sportback shown at the Paris Motor Show in October.
Spotted in camouflage at the Nurburgring, the next-generation A5 exhibits Audi’s evolutionary design with its aggressive looking grille and large air intakes, along with door-mounted mirrors, a streamlined, athletic roof and short boot with integrated spoiler. The A5 will focus on comfort and refinement, with a quiet cabin featuring aluminium trim, metallic accents and a free-standing infotainment system, as seen in the newly-revealed next-generation A4.
Due to be built on the same MLB Evo platform as the A4 Saloon and A4 Avant from the brand new B9 generation, it is likely that the new A5 model range will increase in size but exhibit reduced weight, which would almost certainly improve performance in comparison to forerunners.
Audi isn’t stopping there though, with the A4 allroad quattro launching next year too, and a new A5 Convertible under development that we are likely to see in early 2017.
If performance is key then Audi won’t disappoint, as an S range will be produced too; the S5 model is believed to be under development with the same supercharged V6 as its predecessor and will be able to produce around 350 PS, complete with automatic gearbox and quattro AWD. Audi is working to produce RS versions of the new models too that we will hopefully see as early as 2017.
