The original A8 on Top Gear- 1994 model

Audi has been proving popular with the Top Gear presenters, namely Sabine Schmitz, and has now been featured for the previous two episodes.

Episode four of the series reboot saw four of the seven presenters go all the way to Venice in second hand cars, trying to prove road travel can be more luxurious than the train. Schmitz’s choice of car was the 1994 Audi A8, her initial reasoning showcasing the car’s economical yet powerful V6 engine, as well as the 20-inch alloy wheels, described as ‘bad boy wheels’ by Schmitz.

Proving itself versatile in perhaps the most unusual way possible, the A8 showed its prowess in the first challenge, beating the others to their first destination while showing a surprising ability to cook a meal, and ultimately winning the challenge.

In terms of using the car for its intended purpose, the original A8 once again comes out on top as the winner of the challenge, between the cars at least. The final minutes of the programme show Schmitz racing to meet Eddie Jordan, cheering as she beats Evans and Le Blanc.

So Audi proves itself once again, coming out on top in all the challenges, although it was not able to beat a train. The 1994 Audi A8 was a pioneering vehicle, and has stood the test of time by continuing into its third generation, still going strong.

Schmitz proved second-hand is still luxurious, so why not have a look at our range of Approved Used Audi’s at Jardine Motors Audi today?
