The BMW 218i M Sport Active Tourer is available on BMW Select Personal Contract Plan.
BMW has revealed the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé after its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021. The new edition of the two-door model comes in a choice of two specs: the standard M Sport specification or performance-focused M240i xDrive. Due to launch in the UK in early 2022, the BMW 2 Series Coupé promises thrilling performance, a modern and fresh design, and updated tech.
The BMW 2 Series Coupé is a breath of fresh air, combining classic Coupé styling with striking design elements. It adopts a long bonnet, short overhangs and a swooping roofline to complement its wide, low-slung look. It’s 28mm lower than its predecessor, has wider track widths to help with cornering and uses lightweight materials to enhance its agility.
BMW has also introduced some new aerodynamic features, from the light-alloy wheels and flush fitting door handles to an active air flap control system for the grille. To emphasis its performance focus, the M240i xDrive features a range of sporty and dramatic styling tweaks with aggressive bodywork and a rear lip spoiler.
Inside, you can feel the quality craftmanship of Alcantara/Sensatec in the M Sport or Vernasca leather in the M240i xDrive. As standard you also receive the Sport leather multifunction steering wheel and heated sport seats in the M Sport, or Electric M Seats in the M240i xDrive. Standard M-specific design features across both models include M pedals, M floor mats and M-specific displays in the instrument cluster.
The Coupé boasts a whole host of updated tech, borrowing largely from the 3 Series and 4 Series. This includes the BMW Operating System 7 and Live Cockpit Professional, which comprises a 12.3” digital instrument cluster and 10.25” control display. It also comes with the Intelligent Personal Assistant which is activated by the words “Hey BMW”, allowing you to control functions without your hands leaving the wheel.
Acoustic glazing, three-zone climate control and LED interior lighting all come as standard, as well as sat-nav with Connected Parking. You can fully integrate your smartphone and the optional Digital Key means you can unlock your car with your phone, too. Another optional extra is the head-up display, and the Coupé benefits from over-the-air upgrades.
There’s a choice of three engines across the 2 Series Coupé range. The range-topping BMW M240i xDrive features a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine which produces a whopping 374hp and makes the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.3 seconds. The M240i xDrive comes with intelligent all-wheel drive, M Sport breaks and the M Sport differential, with Adaptive M suspension available as an option. All this combines for supreme handling and agility.
Meanwhile, the M Sport comes with a 2.0-litre 220i petrol option which develops 184hp, or there’s a 2.0-litre 220d diesel option featuring mild-hybrid technology. The M Sport comes with rear-wheel drive, whilst all engines come with eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and a range of driving modes – from Comfort to Sport Plus. If you opt for the Adaptive M suspension in the M240i xDrive, you’ll also receive the Adaptive setting which adjusts the car’s set-up to suit your driving style.
This striking Coupé has a sportscar presence with the power to back it up. If you want tantalising performance, the BMW 2 Series Coupé M240i xDrive is a no-brainer. But if you’re looking for a cleaner option with better fuel economy for your everyday driving, the 220i variant is ideal for you. Better yet, if you do enough miles to justify a diesel engine, the 220d has got you covered. Whichever you go for, you’ll be travelling in style in a Coupé that packs a punch - and puts the fun back into driving.
