5 Series Touring PHEV 2022

DESIGN

The latest BMW 5 Series Touring Hybrid benefits from an exterior cosmetic overhaul and has a distinguished sleek and elongated body with contoured lines and strong angles to stand out from the crowds. It includes new striking full LED headlights front and rear, with two U-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) with the options to add Adaptive LED lights or go for the BMW Laser lights upgrade. There is a larger signature BMW 'kidney' grille and redesigned bumpers with a new rear apron and sporty-looking trapezoidal tailpipes on either side. The 5 Series Touring interior space redefines the perception of functionality. The stretched roof leads to an integral spoiler and you can open the rear windscreen while leaving the main boot closed. And the boot space isn’t just big, it’s clever too; when you open and close the tailgate the load blind moves automatically and when you have the rear seats folded it goes into a special storage recess under the floor. The front cabin mirrors the 5 Series Saloon with all the latest in-car technology and luxurious design trims and finishes. Inside and out, the BMW 5 Series Touring Hybrid is everything you’d expect with superb design details from every angle.

PERFORMANCE

The latest BMW 5 Series Touring Hybrid is an iconic ultimate driving machine fitted with a four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine that can travel for up to 40 miles on electric power alone. It features the new Anticipatory Hybrid mode, which uses Real Time Traffic Information to optimise fuel efficiencies and has a fourth generation high-voltage lithium-ion battery and BMW eDrive technology. The 5 Series Touring Hybrid delivers 292bhp and 420Nm of torque with a 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds on both the 530e Touring and 530e xDrive Touring models. It produces effortless performance from the smooth eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the M Sport suspension handles corners with greater control with an optional clever adaptive suspension damping option taking data not just from your driving inputs or the road underneath, but from the navigation system’s reading of the road ahead. The powerful 48V starter-generator and a second battery enables a significant increase in the amount of braking energy that can be regenerated and stored, producing an electric boost that instantly makes an additional 8 kW/11 hp available for overtaking or off-the-line acceleration. Whichever version you go for, the 5 Series Touring range is extremely well-balanced, dynamic in every way and perfectly practical inside and out.
