The new BMW 5 Series Saloon is everything you would hope for: a fine-driving, well-built and refined luxury Saloon.
It grabs attention instantly with a distinctly sporty character in all three trim levels available across the range– SE, M Sport and M Sport Edition. Whichever model you go for, the 5 Series is fun and comfortable to drive, striking a great balance between performance and economy and remaining very much best-in-class for driver involvement.
The biggest changes to the 5 Series are in the range of petrol and diesel engines. Almost every four- and six-cylinder engine now comes with a mild hybrid system and gets an eight-speed automatic gearbox that switches seamlessly between gears whether you’re on a long-distance journey or driving through the B-roads.
The 5 Series Saloon has a new, more refined exterior design with new front and rear bumpers, a larger front grille, new lights all-round and trapezoidal exhaust pipes.
Fast, sophisticated, and spacious, it can return over 50mpg – and even more if you pick the hybrid model. You are unlikely to be disappointed.
Always iconic and no mistaking it, the new BMW 5 Series Saloon has a simple elegant design whilst injecting a sense of executive flair and huge practicality.
The new 5 Series creates a much sportier impression than its predecessors, with enhanced proportions, more style and striking elements such as the new active air kidney front grille which is wider and taller than before, new redesigned bumpers, new sculptured front and rear laserlights, trapezoidal exhaust pipes on either side and large alloy wheel options to boot.
The inside is every bit as refined as the outside and enhances functionality. BMW’s multifunction instrument panel replaces the speedometer and rev counter with digital screens, and there’s a new larger 12.3-inch central information display.
As you would expect the 5 Series Saloon is modern and beautifully made. It offers ambient lighting, heated front seats and a luxury premium interior build quality. Whilst driver ergonomics are superior, your front and back-seat passengers can all relax in spacious comfort too.
The 5 Series Saloon is here to make a lasting impression.
The BMW 5 Series Saloon comes with a great range of 8-speed automatic petrol and diesel engines, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive options and almost every four- and six-cylinder engine coming with a mild hybrid system.
The 48V mild hybrid technology helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions by recovering kinetic energy during braking, while also supporting the internal combustion engine when accelerating. Even more economical than the previous 5 Series, the new 5 Series Saloon can return over 50mpg and even more if you pick the hybrid model. It is enormously impressive from the driver’s seat too, it feels agile, firmly collected and is highly engaging.
Performance wise the 530eM Sport Saloon with BMW TwinPower Turbo and eDrive technology is an impeccable drive. It delivers 292bhp and 420Nm of torque and can do 0 to 62mph in only 5.9 seconds.
This is an intelligent Saloon car, the BMW xDrive optional all-wheel drive system will add extra traction when you need it, and the M Sport adjustable suspension delivers exceptional vehicle balance. Also enhancing the experience is the Active Air Stream kidney grille, which knows when the engine, brakes and other components need air and automatically opens up the air vents when required to improve aerodynamics and fuel consumption.
The 5 Series range is at the leading edge of driver-aid technology. The driver will feel more connected than ever before with features like the BMW ConnectedDrive with Intelligent Personal Assistant and the latest standard Connective Package Professional, which comes with Real Time Traffic Information, Connected Music and Remote Service.
There will be access to 50 million songs with Connected Music, and with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto you can connect your smartphone to the 5 Series, and then enjoy access to your content through the new larger 12.3" touchscreen central information display, the instrument cluster and the optional head-up display. Download an app to your smartphone and you can enjoy BMW’s standard ‘remote services’, allowing you to remotely check where your 5 Series is and its status, as well as features like locking or unlocking it.
The ConnectedDrive includes access to a concierge service and eCall, which automatically contacts the emergency services if the airbags deploy in a collision.
The BMW Personal Assistant will carry out a range of tasks for you, this works much like Siri or Alexa, just say “Hey BMW” and it will do things like change the volume on the stereo or adjust the air-con.
The BMW 5 Series Saloon has the full 5-stars for safety technology with a host of sophisticated safety equipment available optionally.
The Driving Assistant pack includes features like lane-departure warning, road sign recognition, emergency brake assist and rear cross-traffic alert decreasing the likelihood of a collision during reversing manoeuvres.
The Driving Assistant Plus adds a wide variety of safety features such as adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assistance for an extra pair of eyes on the road, and to help make your busy drive to work safer and less stressful.
