The latest 2 Series Active Tourer has more presence than its predecessor, thanks mainly to the larger, octagonal kidney grille design flanked by adaptive BMW headlights with the familiar BMW twin light graphic. Flush-fitting door handles are one detail of a design that’s optimised for good aerodynamics, with a Cd as low as 0.26.
PERFORMANCE
The two new plug-in hybrid models join the 2 Series Active Tourer line-up in 2022; the 225e xDrive has a combined power output of 245 metric horsepower while the 230e xDrive boasts 326hp. Both PHEV models use BMW’s fifth generation eDrive electric motors to power the rear wheels, with a three-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels. EV-only range is up to 49 miles.
TECHNOLOGY
There’s an extensive list of standard equipment, starting with the innovative curved display that unites a 10.25-inch driver display with a 10.7-inch central touchscreen. High-tech features include BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant for intuitive voice commands, the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with navigation and real-time traffic information and the BMW Parking Assistant with rear-view camera.
SAFETY
Standard driver assistance systems include Cruise Control with brake function, Lane Departure Warning, Evasion Assistant and front-collision warning. The Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant also comes as standard.
