If you’re wondering why it’s called the Mesh Edition, one glance at the gloss black mesh pattern grille provides the answer. It’s part of a package of visual enhancements designed to take the sporty looks of the X2 to the next level. Other exterior changes include inserts in the bumper trim as well as prominent cladding on the side skirts, door and wheel arch trim in Frozen Black-Brown finish. 19” bi-colour aerodynamic alloy wheels come as standard and so does the Individual High-gloss Shadow Line package of exterior brightwork in high-gloss black. A new exterior body colour, Brooklyn Grey, is exclusive to this model. Open the door and you’ll see ‘Edition’ inscribed on the sills, while other interior upgrades include M seats in black Dakota leather, contrast grey stitching and M leather steering wheel. Interior trim is Aluminium Hexagon Anthracite.

Features

The X2 Mesh Edition includes the updated front end of the M Sport X with LED headlights, as well as X2 logo projection from the exterior mirror on the driver’s side as standard. Other standard features include door handle lighting, puddle lighting and door entry light. Inside, BMW’s Navigation system features an 8.8-inch Control Display with touchscreen functionality, along with Real Time Traffic Information. The optional BMW Navigation Plus brings includes the larger 10.25-inch Control Display as well as BMW Head-Up Display.

Performance & Technology

The X2 Mesh Edition package is available across the range of X2 powertrains, which includes two diesel engines, two petrol engines and one plug-in hybrid. All powertrains pass the stringent Euro 6 emissions standard. Depending on powertrain you can choose manual or auto transmissions and either S-drive front-drive or X-Drive intelligent all-wheel drive. The recently introduced the plug-in hybrid X2 xDrive 25e features a 125hp 1.5-litre petrol engine allied to a 95hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels. Key statistics for this eco-flagship include up to 35 miles of electric-only motoring and a combined output of 220hp for a 0-62mph sprint time of just 6.8 seconds.

Safety

X2 Mesh Edition models come with all-round airbags and the BMW Connected Services system, which automatically alerts the emergency services in the event of an accident. Cruise control features a braking function to slow you automatically if the car in front does so. The optional Driving Assistant Plus pack includes Front Collision Warning, High-beam Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info and Traffic Jam Assist
