The hotly-anticipated M2 is now mere months away, with a release date in April 2016. This explosive coupé gives the 2 Series an M division makeover, with more power, perfectly balanced handling and a sporty new look.
The M2’s sharp exterior has been designed for performance, with an aerodynamic profile, air intakes and wheel arches. Drag is five per cent lower than for a standard 2 Series and lift has been reduced by 35 per cent.
Inside, M logos are stitched into the leather upholstery. The standard specification includes BMW’s Professional Navigation, Bluetooth® connectivity and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The 3.0-litre straight-six turbo charged engine is uprated to develop 364bhp and 465Nm of torque. Electronically controlled limited-slip differential optimises the power output and the lightweight body enhances the handling.
0-60mph will take just over four seconds with the seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox. There is also a manual transmission available. Steve Roberts, BMW UK’s Product Operations Manager for Small Cars, said, “We know there are a lot of people who will want this as a driver’s car and will want it with a manual.”
