Introduction

The epitome of low-slung, powerful Ferrari style, the Ferrari 458 Spider ushers in a whole new generation of Ferrari convertibles.

The first car to combine a mid-rear engine with an innovative, retractable folding hard top to deliver unprecedented in-cabin comfort and unparalleled performance, the 458 Spider offers a new dimension in driving pleasure.

The new Ferrari 458 Spider can be discovered in more detail at Lancaster Ferrari in Essex.

Safety

Ferrari's Pininfarina design team has cleverly incorporated rollover protection into the cockpit of the 458 Spider, thanks to the unique design of the B-pillar buttresses.

Vehicle Dynamic Assistance improves the safety of the drive by providing a clearer understanding of the conditions most suited to the car at any particular moment, and ceramic disc brakes with ABS provide incredible stopping power.

Design

Although it retains the sleek bonnet and flanks of the F430 Spider, the 458 Spider is a whole new animal, with aerodynamic, tapering buttresses channelling airflow downwards to improve grip, and large rear scoops feeding the engine air intakes to improve performance.

The retractable aluminium hard top, which opens and closes in just 14 seconds, is made up of two folding sections and takes up very little space.

Inside, the Ferrari 458 Spider offers leather upholstery, comfort and elegance. Within its simple and stylish Formula 1-style cockpit, the double curvature roof and seating are ergonomically designed to comfortably accommodate even very tall occupants.

There is a useful storage area behind the two seats, large enough to take a golf bag, and the front boot has a 58-litre capacity, offering plenty of luggage space for that last-minute long weekend in the country.

Technology

With its direct-injection 4.5-litre V8 engine and seven-speed F1 dual-clutch manual transmission, the Ferrari 458 Spider races from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, reaching a blistering top speed of 199mph.

Ferrari's HELE Stop/Start system is available as an option to reduce CO2 emissions.

F1-Trac traction control improves the car's cornering and acceleration, and the car's 570bhp produces an exhilarating howl and a spectacularly visceral drive.

Featuring Ferrari's bespoke Human Machine Interface, controls are all easily accessible from the steering wheel, putting you in complete charge and ensuring optimal performance in all driving conditions.
