Honda's legendary NSX supercar launched over 25 years ago at the Chicago Motor Show.
The latest-generation model has finally arrived with an unveiling at the Detroit Motor Show.
The all-new NSX was revealed with Acura badging – Honda's high-end US arm – and fitted beneath the bonnet is an advanced twin-turbo hybrid drivetrain that produces around 550bhp.
Three electric motors will combine with a V6 petrol engine to drive all four wheels, and visual changes to the concept can also be seen.
It's both longer and wider than the concept, and sits close to the road with a low roofline for a poised look.
Vast side air vents, four centrally-mounted exhausts and a rear diffuser that wouldn't look out of place on the race track all hint at the car's potent pace.
The entire exterior has been crafted with high-speed stability in mind, with the majority of the vehicle's weight kept low and towards the middle of the chassis.
This means an exciting yet controlled ride is enjoyed at the wheel, as Acura senior vice president Mike Accavitti confirms: “The NSX delivers pinnacle supercar performance, with zero-delay acceleration and confidence-inspiring driving dynamics."
Order books for the all-new NSX are open now, and first deliveries of the supercar are scheduled for Spring 2017.
