Last September, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda unveiled a new take on the Civic Tourer. The Active Life Concept is a sporty model with an outdoor focus.
A futuristic, athletic body shape reflects the forward-thinking developments inside. The vibrant shade of blue is exclusive to the vehicle, and is mirrored in the interior trim. New 18-inch alloy wheels add to that individuality, matched by the bright silver roof.
Designed with cyclist and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, the Civic Tourer Active Life features a loading rack which holds two bicycles and retracts into an impressive load space of 1,668 litres. An additional roof rack drastically enhances the storage capacity overall.
To ensure that adventurous motorists enjoy convenience when exploring, the equipment includes a retractable bench and canopy. An integrated air pump and water tank are also vital for bicycle maintenance, with space for an optional toolbox. Bold blue interior lighting keeps all features and cargo visible.
Even as a concept model, the Active Life prototype was showcased fitted with Honda's 1.6-litre diesel engine. It is one of the most efficient power systems the manufacturer has ever made, having set a Guinness World Record for fuel economy. In summer 2015, it returned over 100mpg on an 8,000-mile international journey.
There is currently no news on if and when the Civic Tourer Active Life Concept will be released as a production vehicle. Motorists can however continue to choose the new Civic and Civic Tourer from the current model range.
