Meet the 2017 Honda Civic

After months of teasers and speculation, meet the all-new tenth generation Honda Civic which was globally unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show this month.

Our first taste of the all-new Honda Civic was the prototype version showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show back in March. Ever since, we’ve had speculation, teasers and small glimpses of the final product. But earlier this month, the production-ready 2017 Honda Civic was revealed to the world at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The tenth-generation Honda Civic represents a significant step forward for Honda in the C-segment, being a product of the largest single model development programme in the company’s history. It is a perfect blend of distinctive design, sporty styling and versatility.

Here are some the key features of the 2017 Honda Civic:

All-New Platform and Exterior Design

The all-new Civic has been re-invented from the ground up and is the product of innovative techniques in engineering and construction to create a lighter yet significantly more rigid structure. As a result, the new Civic is 16 kg lighter than the current Civic, while exhibiting 52 percent greater torsional stiffness.

The new Civic hatchback also features a new Honda design direction that gives it an even stronger and sportier personality.

The sharp exterior lines are complemented by the most comprehensive aerodynamic packaging in the compact segment. The new Civic is wider, longer, and lower than any previous generation Civic, and its distinctive wheel-arches and sculpted front and rear intakes all contribute to the new Civic’s sporty aesthetic and performance.

Refined Interior and Innovative Honda Technology

Looking at the interior of the new Civic, it’s clear that it continues the tradition of providing class-leading practicality, space and technology.

The entirely new interior features a simple, yet incredibly refined, layout – kitted out with an abundance of car technology and high-grade materials for enhanced comfort and connectivity.

Horizontal lines and the larger dimensions of the new Civic contribute to a more spacious interior for passengers to enjoy. A 478-litre boot space remains a class-leading volume, whilst ease of access and versatility has also been improved.

At the front of the cabin, the driver is presented with a vivid new instrument display layout which is highly intuitive and user friendly.

A seven-inch Honda Connect colour touchscreen display is also placed in front of the driver. This touchscreen display is used to control the infotainment system, climate control functions and also acts as a display for the reversing camera function. The new Civic uses Honda’s second-generation “Connect” infotainment and connectivity system which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

All-new VTEC TURBO Engines

Honda has a long-standing reputation for producing some of the most celebrated high performing engines in the industry, and the new Civic continues the tradition. Two all-new VTEC TURBO gasoline engine options, the 1.0 litre three-cylinder and 1.5 litre four-cylinder, are available with the 2017 Honda Civic.

These new VTEC TURBO units have been meticulously designed to deliver a driving experience that is powerful, efficient and encompasses the all-new Civic’s sporty nature.

Both engines will be available with either a newly-designed six-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.

Safety for Everyone

In addition to improved performance and design, the Honda SENSING suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies ensures the new Civic is one of the safest cars in its class and is in line with Honda’s philosophy of ‘Safety for Everyone’.

Honda SENSING is a comprehensive suite of safety technologies which consists of radar and camera information, plus a host of high-tech sensors to warn and assist the driver in potentially dangerous scenarios.

With this level of safety technology, coupled with class-leading body rigidity and stiffness, the new Honda Civic is expected to earn a five start rating in the latest Euro NCAP tests.
