Another step forward for Jaguar E-Type restoration project

Lancaster Jaguar is in the process of restoring an iconic Jaguar E-Type, which we intend to put up for auction and donate the proceeds to Whizz-Kidz, a charity that provides mobility products for disabled children.

The complex project is moving along well, and we have already spent over 300 hours removing every inch of rust from the model’s sleek body. Meanwhile, our selected firm Regis Autos has replaced a variety of the car’s panels including the doors, rear wing wheel arches, pedal boxes and more.

The two-door has now been fitted with its new bonnet, specially made by Jaguar Heritage and has been transported to our chosen company M&A Coachworks ready for a fresh coat of striking Carmine Red paint, the car’s original colour. After this, our technicians will head to the M&A Coachworks workshop to fit the E-Type with a completely rebuilt front and rear suspension set-up. This will allow us to transport it safely back to Jaguar Amersham ready for the next stage.

When it arrives the final rebuilding process can begin, which involves fitting hundreds of new parts. This includes luxurious new black leather trim and carpets which add the final elegant touch to this admirable car. We expect the restoration to be completed by the end of August 2015, which is a great achievement for our team given the care that needs to be taken with such a significant project.

After the final bolt has been tightened we’ll put the E-Type under the hammer to hopefully raise thousands of pounds for an extremely worthwhile cause.
