Any sportscar enthusiast craves the thrill of streaking down sunlit roads in a super-powered roadster.
Now the unique, angular grandeur and phenomenal pace of Lamborghini’s Aventador can be combined with the pleasure of open-top driving.
Though the Roadster variant is bursting with advanced technology, it is at heart a classic sportscar which provides an unmatched sense of communion between driver and machine.
The Aventador Roadster is currently available to test-drive at Jardine Motors Group’s Sevenoaks showrooms.
The Roadster's removable hard-top roof is made of two carbon fibre panels which weigh a miniscule 6kg (the panels are easily stored in the front luggage compartment). With the roof down you can enjoy the immense roar of the V12, which takes you from a standing start to 62mph in less than three seconds.
The Avendator Roadster's glorious TFT instrument panel gives you easy access to a high-quality multimedia system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, and a rear reversing camera.
The large “Start" button in the middle of the centre console only adds to the sense of occasion every time the Roadster is switched on.
Like a champion boxer or apex predator in the animal kingdom, the Aventador Roadster boasts a strong yet spare frame without a single superfluous line.
Even amongst hypercars its profile is low, wide and dominant, with the wasp-waisted sides and sculpted rear contributing to the impressive drag coefficient of 0.32.
A redesigned rear pillar, which allows extra ventilation to the 6.5 litre V12 engine, is another notable design feature, along with Lamborghini's archetypal scissor doors.
Inside, the driver and passenger are kept comfortable by an interior swathed in soft Sabbia Nefertem leather.
This precious material complements the refined upholstery from Sant'Agata Bolognese in the same way that the sky-blue “Azzurro Thetis" paint scheme provides the perfect accompaniment to the vehicle's lithe form.
The superb poise and manoeuvrability provided by the Aventador Roadster are important active safety measures in themselves, with the excellent hydraulic steering, four-wheel drive Haldex IV transmission and Dione 20"/21" rims bestowing excellent grip and traction on the vehicle at any speed.
Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, measuring 15.7 inches at the front, 15 inches at the rear, enable a 62-0mph stopping distance of just 106 feet, or 32.31 metres.
Passive safety, however, is also impressive. The carbon fibre monocoque, supported by aluminium frames at the front and rear, provide exceptional torsional stiffness and protection for the occupants in the event of any impact.
Additional safety is provided by an array of six airbags (front dual-stage driver airbag front-adaptive passenger airbag, two side “head-thorax" airbags, passenger's and driver's knee airbags).
