The Discovery Sport received numerous accolades when it was first revealed by Land Rover in 2014, but even though everyone thought this premium compact SUV couldn’t get any better, it just did.
The 2017 edition is a versatile family SUV that doesn’t forget, equipped with Tile’s advanced tracking app, which uses tiny Bluetooth trackers called Tile tags – save yourself the time, the inconvenience and the distraction of forgetting important items, as the Discovery Sport will alert you and help you to locate your lost possessions.
Jaguar Land Rover’s Director of Connected Technologies and Apps, Peter Virk, said: ‘Losing your wallet or leaving your child’s sports kit behind isn’t just an inconvenience. The realisation you’ve mislaid something important can be a cause of distraction. Our unique partnership with Tile means customers can check the status of tagged items using Discovery Sport’s touchscreen, so forgotten items will be a thing of the past.’
This world-first integrated in-car tracking system can be controlled by the Discovery Sport’s touchscreen infotainment system. Tile tag an unlimited number of important objects and your Land Rover will let you know if you’ve forgotten anything when you’re about to set off.
Better yet, you can easily access the Tile app from your Android or Apple to track your Tile tags and find out where they’re hiding. And if items are lost inside the vehicle, a 90-decibel alarm can be sounded on the Tile tag to help locate them. Simply activate Tile tag on the touchscreen to initiate the system – you can even make an ‘Essentials’ list to check for your necessities.
Tile CEO, Mike Farley, commented: ‘We’re really excited to be partnering with Jaguar Land Rover. We believe this integration will provide many benefits such as improved assurance and peace of mind about the whereabouts of essential items, helping drivers save time before they embark on journeys.’
This isn’t the only feature that has made the Discovery Sport even better, as it’s also now equipped with a whole host of extra convenience and safety features and an enhanced new design.
An optional Graphite Pack is now available on SE and SE Tech trim levels, adding a Dark Atlas grille finish, bonnet script and side vents, a contrasting roof in Corris Grey and wing mirror caps in Narvik Black. If you’re looking for something even more distinctive, four new metallic body colours are also available: Silicon Silver, Farallon Black, Carpathian Grey and Aruba.
Technology has taken a step ahead too, with the updated InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with larger 10.2-inch touchscreen at the core. Swipe and pinch, and make the most of the high-speed, high-performance system, enjoying it all with superior clarity.
To complete the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport is a trio of new safety systems. The Driver Condition Monitor detects signs of drowsiness to help ensure safer driving, the Intelligent Speed Limiter helps the driver to keep at the correct speed limit, and Lane Keep Assist detects lane markings to keep you within the lines.
