At this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, Lexus announced its motorsport programme’s expansion into the United States planned for 2016, revealing the new F Performance Racing team and stunning RC F GT3. The event, dedicated to the automotive tuning and styling industry, provided the perfect platform for such an announcement.
With a new global racing effort already underway, the Lexus RC F GT3 - based on the production Lexus RC F high-performance coupe - is making its mark in Japan as it competes in the Super GT Series in the GT300 and GT500 classes, and in Europe in the FIA-sanctioned GT3 class.
The F Performance Racing team will be managed by Paul Gentilozzi, multiple championship winner and racing patriarch, plus Scott Pruett, veteran driver and road racing legend, will pilot the RC F GT3, applying his wealth of experience to the development of the vehicle.
The 2016 season will lend itself to data gathering and track experience, working towards the 2017/18 season where the team can enter a full schedule with multiple vehicles.
Gentilozzi stated ‘An opportunity to reunite with North America’s greatest sports car driver and a globally prestigious brand validating their performance potential is a racer’s dream, one that would put an exclamation point on anyone’s motorsports career.’
