The sharp steering and excellent body control lend the AMG GT remarkable agility and balance when dealing with dangerous situations on the road, along with powerful brakes and an expertly calibrated Electronic Stability Programme. Proactive measures such as Collision Prevention Assist, which brakes the vehicle automatically to prevent low-speed collisions in urban driving and traffic jams, provide an extra level of active safety. Optional extras include adaptive high-beam headlights, a Blind Spot Warning system, and Traffic Light Recognition. If a collision occurs, the driver and passenger are shielded from injury by anti-roll bars and multiple airbags.
A two-seater fastback with styling that harkens back to classic Mercedes models such as the the 300SLR racing car, the new AMG GT is a machine built for effortless speed and poise.
The lengthy, sculpted bonnet, wraparound LED headlights and 19” or 20” alloy wheels combine assertiveness and refinement, continuing into the concave side panels and delectable curve of the low fastback roof.

The driver and passenger are positioned in long-slung nappa leather sports seats, which provide an excellent driving position as well as the sense of close proximity to the road required of any true high-performance sportscar.
The highly individual (yet simple and effective) cabin layout features circular air vents and a high transmission tunnel to accentuate the sporting ambience, whilst the centre console can be finished in a choice of chrome, matt silver, black diamond or carbon fibre.
350 litres of loadspace also ensure that the AMG GT is more practical than one might expect for a vehicle so focused on performance and aesthetic appeal.
Both the standard AMG GT and the AMG GT S are equipped with a 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch Speedshift transmission that offer outstanding linear acceleration and poise as well as sheer velocity.
The slightly less powerful engine supplies 462hp and maximum torque of 600Nm, compared to the 510hp and 650Nm of the unit available with the “S” edition.
This extraordinary amount of thrust pushes the model from a standstill to 62mph in four seconds, or 3.8 seconds in the case of the AMG GT S.
The response of the engine, which supplies maximum torque at just 1600rpm, is instantaneous. On track days, moreover, the GT S can achieve an electronically-limited top speed of 193mph.
Three different driving modes (Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus) can be accessed through the AMG Dynamic Select Controller, allowing you to adjust engine response and the rate at which the transmission changes gears.
The “S” model includes Race mode, for those special occasions when you can truly push the vehicle to its limits.
