Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 53 2021

DESIGN

There’s no mistaking the E 53 for any other E-Class. The distinctive AMG grille with its twelve vertical bars is inspired by the face of the AMG GT, while the redesigned front spoiler, features outer air inlets with two transverse louvres to direct cooling air to the brakes and drivetrain. At the back, a reshaped rear apron and redesigned diffuser with quad tailpipes, emphasise the impression of road-hugging breadth. On the saloon, the new, flatter taillights are visually linked with a chrome strip, while on the estate this strip is extended up to the end of the outer lamps. The E 53 4MATIC comes with 19-inch AMG wheels in matt black or high-gloss tantalite grey as standard, though 20-inch wheels are optional. Whether you choose saloon, estate or two-door, the E 53 is a head -turner - and it looks even more dramatic with the optional AMG Night Package of high-gloss black exterior trim.

TECHNOLOGY

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC is powered by a 435hp six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine, intelligently aided by a mild-hybrid EQ Boost starter-alternator that can add 16 kW of output and 250 Nm of torque. The effect of the extra electric urge can be felt when accelerating from a standing start, eliminating any sense of turbo lag. EQ Boost also improves refinement and fuel efficiency with gliding mode and makes the point where the engine cuts back in under start/stop mode virtually imperceptible. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission, and the suspension features extensive AMG upgrades, including multi-chamber air suspension and adaptive adjustable damping.

The AMG E 53’s all-wheel drive 4MATIC transmission ensures optimum traction on any surface for a high level of safety. The high-performance disc brakes are cross-drilled and ventilated at the front with a diameter of 370mm and four-piston AMG callipers. Rear discs are 360mm with single-piston callipers.
