TECHNOLOGY
Mercedes-AMG has thrown the rulebook out the window with the EQS 53. The brand has introduced goosebump-inducing acoustics; allowing you to choose from Balanced, Sport and Powerful ‘sound experiences’. Paired with vibrations, the dynamic acoustics are enough to make you forget you’re in an electric car. Inside, the triple-display MBUX Hyperscreen spans the entire width of the instrument panel. The infotainment system offers personalised suggestions and allows passengers to watch films or read messages whilst removing them from the driver’s view. The sat-nav with Electric Intelligence figures out the fastest routes, including charging stops, whilst the Mercedes me App allows you to find charging points according to their availability and charging capacity. For those looking to push your limits, you can also opt for AMG Track Pace which records lap times as well as speed and acceleration to measure your performance.
SAFETY
The EQS 53 has been put through extensive crash and component tests to ensure it meets the same strict safety standards as the rest of the AMG range. To ensure maximum safety for the driver and passengers, the battery sits in a crash-protected area in the underbody of the car. As expected with Mercedes-AMG, the EQS 53 also comes with a range of driver assistance systems to make your driving experience an even more enjoyable one.
FEATURES
A powerful 400-volt battery and two motors at the front and rear axles power the EQS 53. Although fully electric, the saloon achieves AMG levels of performance and handling with 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, air suspension, rear-axle steering and an optional ceramic compound braking system. And the figures back it up: the EQS 53 produces 658hp, 950Nm of torque and makes the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.8 seconds. But with the AMG Dynamic Plus package, this increases to 761hp, 1020Nm of torque and a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds when you engage Race Start. With 360 miles of range, to reduce charging times the car primes the battery for fast charging, meaning over 180 miles can be added in just 19 minutes. To increase efficiency and extend range, you can also adjust the level of regenerative braking via switches on the steering wheel.
