The GLA has the stance of an SUV, the cabin space of a family hatchback and the smooth style of a crossover coupé. To distinguish the potent Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC from other versions, there’s an AMG-specific radiator grille plus the choice of silver or high-gloss black trim on the outer air inlets and the front splitter. Its wheels are 19-inch 5-twin-spoke alloys in Tantalum grey, while the rear features a tailgate spoiler plus a new rear diffuser with twin round exhaust tailpipes. The optional AMG Night package includes high-gloss black brightware in place of chrome, dark-tinted glass from the B-pillar to the rear and black chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes. Inside, the GLA 35 is upholstered in Artico man-made leather with Dinamica microfibre in black, with contrasting topstitching in red and red seat belts. Cabin trim is carbon fibre and the air vents are ringed in red.
TECHNOLOGY
All versions of the GLA, whether AMG-badged or not, feature the intuitive and acclaimed MBUX infotainment system with natural voice control and touchpad. The Mercedes-AMG 35 4MATIC has full dual wide-screen 10.3-inch displays, stretching across the fascia in one smooth sweep of glass. AMG-specific features include a choice of three AMG display styles, Classic, Sport and Supersport, with the latter display featuring a large central rev counter. Other AMG data displays include Warm-up, Set-up, G-Force and Engine Data. Track fanatics may also wish to specify the optional, personal racing engineer AMG Track Pace, which is integrated into the MBUX system and can help to analyse and improve driving skills.
SAFETY
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC has all the safety systems of the standard GLA, such as Active Brake Assist that can intervene and brake to avoid a collision or to reduce its severity. Engineering features that are unique to the AMG GLA 35 include a reinforced bodyshell for greater torsional rigidity and uprated brakes; the front has 4-piston monoblock fixed callipers and 350-millimetre brake discs while the rear axle is fitted with 1-piston sliding callipers that clamp 330-millimetre brake discs.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC has the signature AMG flat bottomed performance steering wheel. The steering wheel rim in nappa leather is perforated in the grip area with red contrasting topstitching to be both tactile and attractive. With multi-function controls and galvanised gearshift paddles you feel in control of every move of the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension which is tuned for high cornering speeds and minimal roll. The optional AMG Performance steering wheel is even more highly tuned for performance. With it’s grippy texture and sporty 12 o’clock marking.
