The frontend of the GLS 63 is more aggressive with an imposing chrome AMG grille, striking air inlets, expressive body contours, and flared wheel arches. The rear apron is also new with a sporty diffuser and twin chrome tailpipes, and the body sits on 21” wheels as standard (although 23” are also an option). For an even sportier look, the AMG Night Package sees high-gloss black styling on the likes of the mirror housings and front splitter. The new GLS 63 has a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, so there’s plenty of room for up to seven people. With all the seats up, you can expect 355-litres of luggage space, or with five people in two rows, this increases to 890-litres. But thanks to the AMG sports pedals and steering wheel, the SUV still feels sporty and performance-ready. The interior is luxurious with premium quality materials used throughout and multiple comfort features, including AMG multi contour memory seats in the front and heated second-row seats (the third-row seats can be heated as an option).
TECHNOLOGY
The GLS 63 features the latest generation MBUX infotainment system and all the gadgets to go with it, too. The AMG instrument cluster has four display styles to choose from (Modern Classic, Sport, Discreet, and AMG-specific Supersport) depending on your personal taste and shows all the important driver information clearly and easily. The widescreen cockpit is made up of two large 12.3” high-res touchscreens and displays the wide range of infotainment functions available. MBUX can be controlled via these touchscreens, touchpads on the steering wheel, voice control, or gesture control via Interior Assist. To top it all off, a Burmester surround system is also included as standard as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
SAFETY
There’s a range of features in the GLS 63 to ensure both you and your passengers feel safe on any journey, including Multibeam LED headlamps and the AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system as standard. The SUV also comes armed with driving assistance systems to take the strain off you on longer drives, including Active Distance Assist and the Driving Assistance Package Plus which includes Active Stop-and-Go Assist.
FEATURES
Mercedes-AMG models are designed with driving performance in mind. When you buy an AMG model, you can expect an advanced engine, aerodynamic body, and high-speed capability - and the GLS 63 is no exception. Under the hood you’ll find a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, which produces 603bhp and 850Nm of torque, and makes the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.2 seconds. What’s more, the engine features an integrated EQ Boost starter-alternator which provides an extra 22bhp of electric power. This means you can expect immediate acceleration from a standstill or when overtaking, for example. The hybrid system also allows for energy recuperation and gliding for improved efficiency. All models come with all-wheel drive, AMG Speedshift TCT 9-speed automatic transmission, and AMG Active Ride Control air suspension. There’s also a range of driving modes to choose from, including Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Trail, and Sand.
