The SUV features an imposing chrome grille with Mercedes-Maybach lettering, and chrome accents can also be found around the windows, in the side sill panels, tailpipes and the underride guard for an elegant and modern touch. You can choose between 22” or 23” wheels which have been created exclusively for the Maybach GLS, as well as two-tone paintwork. Inside, you’ll find a spacious interior adorned with the highest quality materials. Up front, the driving position is elevated and the electrically extending running boards make it easier to get in and out. The dashboard is finished in nappa leather and a number of luxury trim combinations are also available. In the back, the rear seats have a massage function and can be turned into reclining seats at the touch of a button, with lots of legroom to fully stretch out. Mercedes have spent a lot of time making sure the passenger seating is just as luxurious and comfy in the back as it is up front.
TECHNOLOGY
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS comes complete with a roster of high-end tech, with tablets and screens in the front and back. It comes with the latest generation MBUX infotainment system, a head-up display and multifunction steering wheel. The steering wheel features Touch Control buttons to adjust navigation, cruise control or entertainment functions without taking your hands off the wheel. Rear passengers aren’t without their state of the art tech, either. There’s two fixed HD touchscreen displays on the back of the front seats and, if you opt for four seats instead of five, an MBUX tablet is placed in the armrest between the rear seats. A Burmester 3D surround sound system comes as standard with 28 speakers, some of which are embedded in the roof-liner, and you can choose between settings such as Live or Easy Listening. Noise insulation using laminated safety glass with acoustic film, and other damping measures, creates a quiet and relaxing environment.
SAFETY
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS comes equipped with the brand’s latest driving assistance systems including Pre-Safe Impulse Side, Active Brake Assist, the Parking Package with 360-degree camera and Driving Assistance package Plus. The luxury SUV also comes with Multibeam LED headlights and Mercedes me connect notifies you via your smartphone if your car gets damaged while parked or if there’s an attempted break-in.
FEATURES
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC comprises a twin-turbocharged 4-litre V8 engine which is exclusive to the Maybach, and produces a whopping 549bhp and 730Nm of torque. The engine is also combined with a 48-volt mild hybrid system for added power and efficiency – called an ‘EQ Boost’. This all means the GLS Maybach can make the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.9 seconds. Airmatic suspension comes as standard for maximum agility (and it also drops the car by 25mm when you open the doors), as well as E-Active Body Control, or you can opt for fully-active suspension at an extra cost. Amongst the normal Mercedes drive programs, you’ll also find a dedicated Maybach program which prioritises rear seat comfort.
