Mercedes-Benz V-Class Marco Polo 2021

DESIGN

With the V-Class Marco Polo, Mercedes-Benz takes the humble camper van and elevates it to a new level of luxury. Even from afar, the subtle combination of sleek lines and soft, organic form give way to a powerful design presence so inherently Mercedes-Benz. At the front, a striking bumper and bladed grille command attention, while the rear is dominated by its large tailgate and attractively styled rear lights. Prominent wheel arches and decorative light-alloy wheels (available up to 19 inches) add further distinction. Once inside, passengers may be forgiven for assuming they are in a VIP business lounge. Together, elegant design, leather upholstery, ambient lighting and plush trimmings create a distinctively first-class aesthetic. Here on in, a generous interior makes way for a traditional camper van layout with a fully equipped kitchen complete with fridge, stove and sink, and two built-in beds. There is also plentiful built-in cupboard space and even soft-close drawers for that added touch of class. Practicality is accounted for too. A pop-up electric roof opens the upstairs sleeping quarters in just 30 seconds, while the front and rear seats are easily adjusted to make the downstairs bed. At 5.1 metres in length, there is more than enough room for all the family.

FEATURES

From everyday motoring through to recreational activities, the V-Class Marco Polo ensures a beautiful drive for every intended type of use. The powerful 2.0-litre engine brings remarkable refinement for a vehicle of its size – even when driving at speed and under hard acceleration. This is available in two outputs, V220d and the slightly niftier V300d, and either Sport or AMG Line trim. Even at entry point the V-Class Marco Polo still produces an impressive 380Nm of torque from just 1,200rpm giving a 0-62mph time of just 11.1 seconds and a top speed of 121mph. Despite this horsepower, the V-Class Marco Polo drives with such agility that it is very easy to adapt to the driving conditions, whether its easing along windy country roads, pulling on to a campsite or cruising on the motorway. This is helped by the addition of Mercedes’ nine-speed auto box offering smoother transition.
