Replacement tyres explained

The tyres of a Mercedes-Benz are as important as any other component in the vehicle, which is why selecting the most suitable tyres for your model is essential. Since November 2012, a new labelling system designates the type of tyres in three simple and clear terms: fuel efficiency, wet braking and exterior noise emissions.

Efficiency

Mercedes-Benz models are already extremely efficient, but you may not know that your tyres can have a notable effect on fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions. By selecting the appropriate tyre choice for your Mercedes-Benz, you can reduce fuel consumption by an astonishing 7.5 percent.

Wet braking performance

Simply installing a set of A-grade wet braking tyres can radically reduce braking distances. These innovative tyres bring the wet distance braking condition down to 18 metres in a car driving at 50mph.

Exterior noise emissions

Mercedes-Benz cars are renowned for their lack of engine sound in the interior cabin – it’s partly why they make for such a comfortable ride. The new tyre labelling system tells you how much noise the appropriate tyre makes, meaning that you can keep noise to a bare minimum without making compromises.
